Bigger crowd for second KVRS

After a slow start to the season organizers were ecstatic to see a field of almost 70 athletes turn out to the second race of the Kokanee Valley Race Series on Thursday, Jan. 6.

The event was a giant slalom on Ross’s Gold, with hard snow, winds and even flurries, but that didn’t stop competitors from posting some solid times on two runs of the course.

Telemarker Gavin Christie won the draw prize for a pair of Atomic skis.

The next event takes place on Jan. 27, and is a super G on Blackcomb. Helmets are required for this event.

To register in advance, stop by any Whistler-Blackcomb Ski School Sales or Guest Relations location. You can also register on race day at the Rendezvous Lodge on Blackcomb until 9:45 a.m.
