WORCA is getting the season off to an early start this Sunday, March 13 with a short Loonie Race based out of the Lost Lake Warming Hut.
The format is pot-luck – participants have to bring some food to get into the action, and WORCA will be supplying the refreshments.
2005 Memberships will also be available. The cost is $40 for adults, $30 for juniors and $90 for families. All Loonie Race participants will need to be members for insurance reasons.
The regular Thursday night Loonie Race season gets underway on Thursday, May 4.
Lipscomb part of McDonald’s campaign
Whistler snowboarder Crispin Lipscomb was selected by McDonald’s to be part of a new Canadian and global campaign based on the theme "It’s what I eat, and what I do…I’m lovin’ it". Lipscomb will join athletes like NBA superstar Yao Ming, Venus and Serena Williams, and Wayne Gretzky on the campaign. Other Canadians include hockey star Cassie Campbell, Paralympic athlete Jeff Adams and Olympic diver Alexandre Despatie.
Few spots left for Peak to Valley race
The course may be shorter this year because of the snow conditions, but racers will have more energy for the after party.
The Appleton Rum Peak to Valley Race takes place this Friday and Saturday. A few spots are still available for teams of four (must be one member of opposite sex on each team). To sign up, drop by Whistler-Blackcomb Guest Relations or call 604-905-2039.
