Some of the older teams have already played against other teams from the newly created Green River League, a spring league which includes teams from Whistler, Pemberton and Mount Currie. The Whistler Youth Soccer Club has over 400 members, and together with Pemberton and Mount Currie the Green River league has close to 1,000 players, and a regular rotation of home and away games.
The house teams will continue to play in the Squamish Youth Soccer League in the fall.
New to the club this year is the website at www.whistlersoccer.com, with all league schedules, club information and online registration available.
Registration is also getting underway for the September 2005-June 2006 season, with a deadline on June 25. This change was made to make it easier for the league to create teams. Usually sign-on would take place in September.
ÒIt was too late,Ó said youth soccer administrator Linda McGaw. ÒWe need to have our teams organized well ahead of time for the Squamish house league which plays in September. This early registration allows us to allocate teams over the summer, and also brings us into line with Lower Mainland clubs who all use an early registration method.Ó
WYSC is accepting new players into the club now, even though they wonÕt be technically registered until September. This concession is for this year only Ñ next spring only players registered by the June 25, 2005 deadline will be able to play in the May-June session.

The games on May 7 get underway at 9:30 a.m. with the Under 6 group.
