Zeppelin rules the Creek
Whistler’s own high-octane Zeppelin tribute band Whole Lotta Led are set to once again tear the paint off the walls and make the beer gush like Old Faithful at Dusty’s on Saturday night.
The bar has hosted some of the band’s most epic Zep sets as of late, although it’s pretty tough to beat the World Ski and Snowboard Festival show at the Boot Pub, which saw members of Zeppelin-esque Canadian rock band The Tea Party join them on stage.
Tea Party guys or no Tea Party guys, any given Whistler rocker can tell you the Led boys are pretty impressive on their own. Local guitar wizard Creekside Phil Richard has mastered all of Page’s most intricate riffage and pulls out all the stops – dual necks, the cello bow, you name it.
And those who’ve chalked Hairfarmer Greg Reamsbottom up to an a.m. radio-hippie harmonizer are going to be in for a surprise when he takes the mike and channels Plant’s most primal wails.
The truth is, the boys really sound like Zeppelin. And since Zeppelin will never play Whistler, this is as good as it’s ever gonna get. It’s loud, it’s crazy and it rocks.

Brat Attack comin’ back
The good folks at The Punk Night work tirelessly to bring more than just punk music to the Boot Pub week after week after week.
Metal, emo, hardcore and all those subgenres in between take the stage regularly at the Sunday night anti-club central.
This Sunday, however, The Punk Night stays true to its name with the return of Winnipeg’s Brat Attack – a gutsy DIY punk band with more heart than it can snot-rocket out its collective nose.
Brat Attack will be joined by Vancouver band The Rise In the Fall, a side project featuring the drummer from perennial favourites Side 67 and Chiliwack’s New World On Fire. Go see that show too.
