Pemberton Council meeting changed

Village’s second annual general meeting set for June 16

The Village of Pemberton has cancelled its June 7 council meeting due to councilors’ scheduling conflicts. Council will be addressing the business scheduled for that meeting on Monday, May 30 at 7 p.m. in council chambers at 1350 Aster Street.

The schedule for the summer council meetings has been set and is as follows: Tuesday, June 21, Tuesday, July 5 and Tuesday, Aug. 9. All meetings will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in council chambers.

Submissions for the agenda can be made through the V.O.P.’s website ( www.pemberton.ca ). Agenda packages are available after noon on the day before a council meeting.

The V.O.P. will be hosting its second Annual General Meeting on Thursday, June 16 at 7 p.m. in council chambers. In accordance with a Community Charter change made in January 2004, all municipalities must have public annual general meetings.

"According to the Community Charter, an annual report must be prepared and available for public inspection," explains Sheena Fraser, the V.O.P.’s deputy clerk. "The AGM is also an opportunity to present the council’s goals and objectives for the next year as well as reporting on the status of the previous year’s objectives."

Additionally, other information council considers advisable will be discussed and public submissions will be taken from the floor at the AGM. The meeting is open to all members of the community.
