4 th Horrorfest calling for submissions
Heavy Hitting Films’ 4 th Annual B-Grade Horrorfest has issued the call for the fruits of our twisted minds.
The yearly Halloween celebration of sick gore, shameless nudity and slasher film-style mayhem founded by local filmmakers Chili Thom and Feet Banks has become one of the most anticipated events of the year for the local community, with tickets hotter than the proverbial snake’s ass in a wagon rut.
In terms of submission guidelines, there are few. Films can’t be any longer than 15 minutes and those that steal soundtrack music will not be eligible to win the coveted metal skull head trophy.
Space is limited for the premiere screening night at Millennium Place on Oct. 30 so Banks is requesting filmmakers register their films early by e-mailing: feet@heavyhitting.com.
A second screening will be arranged in the week following the premiere.
The deadline for submissions is Oct. 15.
A DVD compilation featuring all the films from the first three Horrorfests is currently available for $25 at Thom’s Creation Station studio/gallery in Function Junction.
Sea To Sky Film Fest calling for submissions
The 10 th Annual Sea to Sky Film Festival in Squamish has also issued a general call for submissions.
Eligibility requirements are that the films have been recently produced in 16mm, 35mm or professional quality video format and are under 30 minutes in length.
The competitive festival, organized by Squamish arts impresario and film director Adriane Polo, has drawn entries from all over the world in past years. This year’s festival categories include comedy, documentary, drama and experimental. There is no entry fee.
The festival screening, a hosted event that has traditionally drawn many of the filmmakers, will take place Sept. 16 at the Eagle Eye Theatre in Squamish.
