My top five albums right now:

1. Monkee Barz — Sean Price

"This album is really what I’ve been missing with the mid-90s New York street sound. The solo album from half of the New York crew Ruck and Rock of Heltah Skeltah has that custom boot camp click sound with solid production and clever word play and guest appearances by Buckshot, Smiff N Wessun and Rock."

2. Life’s A Collection Of Experiences — DL Incognito

"One of the best rap albums I’ve heard in a long time by one of the best Canadian artists. From start to finish, a really easy and enjoyable album with catchy hooks and beats."

3. ’Back Like Cooked Crack (mix tape) — Juelz Santana

"Juelz is the hot shit right now! His amazing word play and clever rhymes really make this an entertaining listen. Look out for Bandana, Mic Check and Damn It Feels Good, with guest appearances by Cam'Ron, T.I. and other Dip Set members. Take the Dips for what they are and enjoy."

4. BE — Common

"After a couple of sub-par efforts the legendary Chicago MC is back with arguably his best LP to date. With solid production from fellow Chi-town native Kanye West, this album has the typical soulful, conscious sound we've come to expect from Common, but he comes on a lot harder on the lyrical tip, really steppin’ up on Go, Corners and Testify. And you say Chi-city!"

5. Fiyah Fi Bun Dem — DJ Arems (Faction Sound Crew)

"This Vancouver DJ is hot like fiyah! He brings the heat on this new dancehall mixtape. The hottest dancehall riddims with over 80 minutes of flawless mixes and the ill-est sound effects all packed into one tight product. I find myself constantly rewinding."

Last words…

"In these days and times of MP3's and iPods take the time to support your favourite artists by purchasing their albums or singles (especially our

Canadian musicians) and letting them eat in this hard industry."
