Last Hash Run of the season

Whistler Running Experience and Escape Route are hosting their last Hash Run of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Instead of meeting at Escape Route, the run will meet at House Rock in the Whistler Interpretive Forest – cross the bridge by the landfill, take the dirt road, and make a left to get to the clearing with the fire pit.

The race starts at 6 p.m., and the $5 entry fee includes food and refreshments.

The format is the same, with runners working together as a team to find their way to the finish. Because the faster runners spend their time up front looking for markers, it’s possible for all speeds to keep together. When a marker is discovered, runners will mark the location by yelling "on, on."

The event is open to anyone and everyone. Come dressed for the weather, and prepare too spend at least an hour and probably longer on the trails.

Swim club dates set

The Whistler Swim Club’s Seawolves program has set its professionally coached practice sessions for 2005-06.

Beginner and intermediate sessions are from 4 to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while advanced sessions run from 4:45 to 6 p.m. The fall session runs from Sept. 26 to Dec. 10, with no sessions on Thanksgiving, Oct. 10, or Remembrance Day, Nov. 11.

The winter session runs from Jan. 4 to March 10, and the spring session from March 10 to June 2.

Club memberships fees are $25 per family, and practice fees depend on whether you’re in the early or late session and how many days a week you would like to participate – the range is $90 for the beginner session, one day per week, to $190 for the advanced session, three days per week. There is also a one-time, $5 drop-in rate for kids who want to try the program before committing to a full session.
