In last week’s article, "Doctors frustrated with VCHA priorities," there were a few inaccuracies. Firstly, the goal of the 2010 Whistler Medical Staff Committee is to enhance diagnostic facilities in Whistler, as well as to create an ambulatory surgery centre. The goal was not to create a sports centre that would offer services like physiotherapy that are already available in the community – a full service sports medicine centre was just one of the private proposals that has been tabled for Whistler.
Whistler is also not the second busiest emergency centre in the province, as reported. Rather, according to a report by Dr. Les Vertesi, "compared to the Royal Columbian Hospital, one of the busiest trauma centres in the province, during its busy season the WHCC handles a similar acuity of trauma load in approximately half the numbers."
