Countdown is on for candidates

With just two days to go until the nomination period ends, five of the nine declared candidates for mayor had filed their papers as of Wednesday afternoon. Six candidates for councillor positions had filed papers.

With just two days to go until the nomination period ends, five of the nine declared candidates for mayor had filed their papers as of Wednesday afternoon. Six candidates for councillor positions had filed papers.

The deadline to file nomination papers is Friday, Oct. 14.

To date the official candidates running for mayor are: Kristi Wells, Stacy Kohut, Mike Brew, Ken Melamed and Ted Nebbeling.

And for council the candidates who have filed papers are: Bob Lorriman, Gord McKeever, Marianne Wade, Tim Wake, Chris Quinlan and Ralph Forsyth.

Profiles of Brew and Brian Walker, who announced his candidacy for mayor this week, are on pages 22 and 24.

Whistler voters will also be asked to vote for two school trustees on Saturday, Nov. 19. Incumbent Andrée Janyk is the only person to file nominations papers for school trustee to date.
