Producer/rapper Masta Ace became disenchanted with the music industry, but after a six year hiatus from recording, the streetwise wordplay connector found a renewed energy and since has been bringing his clever and bangin’ beats to the hip hop crowds. Tuesday, Nov. 29 he’ll be bring it to Moe Joe’s Night Club, alongside local mix masters DJ Avee and DJ Seanski, and special guest Wordsworth.
The hip-hop hall of famer delivers everything from ghetto tales and viciously fun battle raps to insightful industry commentaries, challenging listeners’ bodies and minds.
"With the emergence of like a Jay-Z and an Eminem… it’s clear that you can be as lyrical as you want to be and not have to water down the flow or water down the lyrics so cats can understand or be able to grasp it," Masta Ace said in a written release. "You can be super intricate with the words you put together, and yet people still feel it. I’m just glad we’re back to that point."
The original member of both Marley Marl’s legendary Juice Crew and the Crooklyn Dodgers has dropped singles on a variety of independent labels, extended his following to European tours and joined forces with Yosumi to record his fourth album, Disposable Arts .

Italian DJ for ’80s night anniversary
If praise from the industry’s top DJs about Benny Benassi’s newest album Hypnotica is any indication of what house electro fans can expect from his show at Tommy Africa’s, Whistlerites are in for a dirty cool, sweaty smooth night on a packed dance floor.
Benassi is at Tommy’s Monday, Nov. 21 as part of the 10 th anniversary of ’80s Night.
Timo Mass praised the album, saying: "I have it, crazy wicked record… crowds love it!" Boy George coined it, "Dirty Electro house at (its) best."
The Italian’s tracks have graced charts all over Europe and North America. He hung out at number one on the Official Dance Chart in France for over a month and placed in the top five on European Dance Charts. When he isn’t touring the world, you’ll find his monumental DJ sets at bi-monthly residencies at The Gallery at Turnmills in London as well as The Queen and Platinum in Paris.
Benassi will get into the ’80s celebrations with his number one hit Satisfaction, with Whistler’s own DJ Ryder warming the crowds up with an ’80s set.

Viva Ross Vegas
Soulful grooves dominate the funk-reggae machine of Ross Vegas, coming Monday, Nov. 21 to the Boot Pub.
The two-year-young band recently released their debut album, Flow , which was recorded at Vogville Studios under the guardianship of renowned producer Jonathan Fluevog.
The band’s cool groove with a gritty edge has won over a devout Vancouver following.
Originals segway to "Ross Vegasified" covers such as Bob Marley, Sublime, Stevie Wonder, Ben Harper and the Beatles for an all-encompassing show.
