Whistler’s striking municipal employees have suspended their job action against the Resort Municipality of Whistler as a sign of good faith.
Canadian Union of Public Employees spokesperson Roseanne Moran said they gave notice to the RMOW last week that the members of local 2010 were suspending their work to rule job action, which has been underway since February.
During that time the 29 CUPE workers, which include wastewater treatment plant workers, utilities workers and bylaw officers, have not been working any overtime and have been on a callout and standby ban.
The CUPE workers have been without a collective agreement for three years as bargaining talks have repeatedly failed. December 31 st marks the three-year anniversary.
Moran explained the union is trying to help bring some resolution to the issue and the suspension of job action is a sign to the new council to try to reach an agreement.
