The Village of Pemberton has appointed Tanalee Hesse as its interim Chief Administrative Officer.
Hesse’s career has spanned more than 16 years as a corporate officer in the municipal government sector. She has held municipal/city clerk and administrator positions in a variety of jurisdictions across the province. Her most recent post was working with the Resort Municipality of Whistler.
"I went up to serve as Chief Electoral Office and then I hung around during transition and did a few other things," said Hesse.
Hesse, who will not be pursing the position on a fulltime basis, has taken on short-term contract positions since 2005.
"Typically I’m somewhere from three to six months."
Her academic qualifications include a diploma in public sector management from the University of Victoria and a senior certificate in municipal administration from the British Columbia Board of Examiners.
Former administrator Bryan Kirk retired from the position at the end of December.
Kirk had held the position in the village for more than 11 years. The announcement of his intention to retire was concurrent with the election of the new mayor and council. Initial speculation was that that Kirk would be retained on a contract basis until a suitable replacement could be found.
However, at the beginning of the year when he became eligible to entertain such an option, Kirk turned down the new council’s offer citing health considerations.
