Get those digi-cams rolling

Armchair adventures

The Telluride Mountain Film Tour is back Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. at MY Millennium Place.

Sports and mountain culture junkies can expect armchair adventures in ice climbing, sailing, base jumping and skiing along with cultural exploration films.

Tickets are $15. All proceeds benefit the Whistler Blackcomb Environmental Fund. Call 604-935-8410 for tickets.

Talent hits the streets

As part of Celebration 2010 festivities, music, comedy and sheer silliness will shake up Whistler Village every weekend in February from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Vancouver’s award-winning Rock, Paper, Scissors will roam for candidates for The Games Show, Michele Bush of Porta Parties is on the couture hunt with Fashion Police Patrol and Comedian Sharon Mahoney takes a poke at the maple leaf with her I Come From Canada routine.

The acoustic skiddle group the Rutherford Creek Trio and guitar duo Gordo & Pierre will ensure the hills ring with music Feb. 11, 18 and 19 from 3-6 p.m. in Mountain Square.

Natural talent call

Both amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit four photos showcasing Mother Nature for the Whistler Naturalists Society’s Nature Photo Slideshow and Exhibit Feb. 27 at MY Millennium Place as part of Celebration 2010.

Six photographers will be chosen whose images will be choreographed into a 15-minute presentation set to music.

Filmmakers get rolling

There have never been more opportunities to get those film clips off the cutting room floor.

Whistler Film Night strikes up again with an open call for 10-minute films to be screened at the Rainbow Theatre, then later on Whistler Cable 6 television.

Submissions must be suitable for public broadcasting. The deadline for entries is Feb. 22.

The theatre screening, set sometime in March, also includes live interviews with the filmmakers.

The Brackendale Documentary Film Festival is also accepting submissions for this year’s event, Films of the Natural World, March 4 at the BAG.
