How to un-clutter your life

Art of organizing

Artists are great creators, but more often than not lacking on the organizational side of things.

Professional organizer (yes, organization is not a personality trait, but a skill) Sarah Leach will host a how-to organizing workshop for couples entitled Honey, Where’s My Stuff? Thursday, Feb. 23 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at MY Millennium Place.

"After the rush of chocolate and hearts is over, then what?" said Leach, who runs a company called Organomics.

"Couples often have very different organizing styles. This workshop will give them the opportunity to save money and time, and reduce stress by learning to create harmony in each other’s organization styles."

A writer herself, Leach understands how easily papers and odds and ends can pile up and how best to de-clutter.

"People think it’s going to take a lot of time, so they don’t start (organizing)," she said. "It can take as little as five minutes a day."

Learn tips and tools of the organizing trade next Thursday. Entry is $25 per couple.

Into the heart of Vietnam

Author Maria Coffey and photographer Dag Goering share both their adventures in their multi-media presentation of Vietnam: Adventures Off the Beaten Track Saturday, on Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. at MY Millennium Place.

"Basically we take people inside the real Vietnam," Coffey said. "We'll talk about the first trip in 1994 . . . We will share hilarious and moving encounters of the heart that will take you right up to the present day."

The couple has spent more than a decade busing, bicycling and boating as the locals do to explore what they later discovered – a kayaking haven. Each year the couple returns to the pristine waters of Halong Bay where the old ways still shine as brightly as the shrines glittering along the coast.

Coffey and Goering will also present their multi-media show as part of the Third Annual Squamish Winter Gala Friday, Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Eagle Eye Theatre.

Tickets for the Whistler event are $10/$5.
