Showdown photographers announced

Whistler photographer one of five to screen slide show

Whistler’s own Blake Jorgenson is among the five Pro Photographer Showdown competitors chosen from 60 portfolios around the world to compete in what has been called the equivalent of the Sundance Festival of action photography at the 2005 Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival.

Recent accolades for the senior photographer for Powder, Skier and Freeskier magazines include Whistler’s 2004 Best Photographer, Powder Magazine’s 2003 Photo of the Year, and Andes Photo Challenge’s 2002 Best of Show. Jorgenson also won the 2001 Pro Photographer Showdown title.

Jorgenson’s competitors include Santa Monica’s Kevin Zacher, California’s Corey Rich, Vancouver’s Scott Pommier and Tofino’s Jeremy Koreski.

The five photographers will screen a nine-minute choreographed slide show judged by a panel of industry professionals at the Showdown, April 19 at the Telus Conference Centre.

This year’s competition caries a $10,000 winning purse.

Gala tickets are $20. For more information, visit www.whistler2006.com.
