Shaving it all off for kids

Balding for Dollars is returning after a one-year hiatus

Organized by Whistler Friends, the fourth Balding for Dollars will take place at the Garibaldi Lift Company on Sunday, April 9.

Balding for Dollars is a province-wide fundraiser in support of children with cancer at B.C. Children's Hospital. Anyone brave enough to have their head shaved and fundraise through collecting pledges is welcome to take part. Past participants include men, women and children from around Whistler and the Sea to Sky corridor.

Whistler après ski legends The Hairfarmers will be entertaining the crowd with renditions of everyone's favorite songs. Head shaving by the staff from The Blackcomb Barber Shoppe will begin at 3:30 p.m., so be sure to get there early with your pledges as there will only be a limited number of barber stools available. There will be prizes for the person with the most funds raised and some secret prizes that will be awarded to fearless participants.

Since its inception in 2002, Whistler Friends has raised over $73,000 for two important organizations: The B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada. Much of this fundraising has been done at previous Balding for Dollars events held in Whistler.

Pledge sheets for Balding for Dollars are available on line at www.baldingfordollars.com .
