After an extensive search the board of trustees of the Whistler Public Library have chosen the former library director for the San Juan Islands as its new director.

Stara has a Master of Arts in Library Science. Prior to her work in the San Juan Islands she worked as a librarian in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

"We are thrilled with our selection of Lauren Stara as our new Library Director," said board chair, Anne Townley.

"Her experience in managing a major library renovation along with her Bachelor of Architecture will greatly benefit the community of Whistler as we continue to plan our upcoming move to our new facility."

"With applicants from as far away as Europe, the number of candidates for this position is very encouraging, showcasing how Whistler is a community that people can move to and continue their careers," said Cristofoli.

Stara is also looking forward to moving back to the mountains, as she is an avid skier and hiker, and to getting to know the community of Whistler, said Townley
