WSSF looking for volunteers

Want to get behind the scenes at the season's biggest festival?

Ten days that will blow your mind and 10 nights that you won’t forget.

Boiled down to numbers and synapses, that’s what the 11 th annual Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival is all about.

Fusing music, arts and sports, the festival is unlike any other celebration of mountain culture. And organizers are looking for volunteers who will get behind the scenes access during the festival. April 14-23.

W1 Inc., the sports and entertainment marketing company that produces the Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival, is holding a volunteer recruitment night at Merlin’s Monday, April 3 at 7 p.m.

The recruitment night provides volunteers with the opportunity to get a better idea of what positions are available, have first pick at scheduling shifts, as well as to meet some of the festival staff. Positions include the alpine operations crew, VIP/media hosts, event photographers, film/photo/fashion production helpers, the Big Air Bear publicity team, marketing representatives for the "Street Team", and dog wranglers at the Whistler Dog Fest, just to name a few.

The festival also has a few paid positions available to fill in a "Lead Hand" capacity, as well as some limited promotions work. Those interested in the paid positions are also asked to bring a copy of their resume along, as staff will be conducting interviews throughout the night.

An online volunteer registration form, as well as more information on the positions is available at www.whistler2006.com/volunteers.

The Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival, features major professional skiing and snowboarding competitions, the largest free outdoor concert series in Canada, the legendary Pro Photographer and Filmmaker Showdowns, and many more unique art and cultural showcases. Bands playing at this year’s festival include Default, Mobile, Metric, Jurassic 5, Blackalicious and Michale Franti & Spearhead.
