In the half marathon, Nick Bladen was the fastest Whistler resident at 1:25:26, posting 6th in the male’s 20-24 category.

Greg Sandkuhl finished second in the men’s 60-64 category with a time of 1:37:53.

In the marathon, Shizuo Kashino was the fastest Whistler resident at 3:23:35, and finishing 38th in the male’s 40-44 category.

Whistler’s top women runners were Ondrea Zugloff, finishing 7th in the female’s 30-34 half marathon category, and Claudie Simard ranking 138th in the female’s 30-34 full marathon category. She was the only Whistler female competing in the full marathon.

Ultimate returns

Ultimate Frisbee league starts up Monday, May 15 at Myrtle Philip school lower playing fields.

The no-contact, seven-on-seven co-ed game originated in the mid-1960s in New Jersey. Whistler attracts from 70 to 100 people to the league and many players have ended up on Canada’s national team.

Organizer Tasso Lazardis says Whistler will host an Ultimate Frisbee tournament in July.

Drop-in fees are $3, plus a $20 membership for Monday and Wednesday games, which go from 6:30 to 8 p.m. For further information, call Tasso, 604.902.3472
