Film grant call

Last chance to tell a story

It’s your last chance to share your Whistler story on the big screen. The deadline to submit a film proposal for the Whistler Film Festival’s Whistler Stories grant program is Friday, June 9.

Whistler Stories is a short film commission competition for B.C. filmmakers as well as a legacy program for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Four filmmakers a year leading up to the Games are chosen for $5,000 grants to produce five-minute short films.

The program aims to celebrate stories from Whistler and the Sea to Sky corridor.

Projects can be documentary, fictional or animated. Organizers strongly suggest filmmakers also work with other artists in disciplines such as music, visual, literary arts and photography. This year films must also centre on Olympic themes of education, culture and/or sports.

Films will premiere at the Whistler Film Festival, Nov. 30 to Dec. 3.

For submission forms, visit www.whistlerfilmfestival.com or contact 604-935-8035.
