Feature script submission call

Deadline July 14

Screenwriters ready to see their words leap from page to stage are asked to submit their feature-length scripts for the annual Whistler Film Festival Feature Script Workshop Competition August 12 and 13 in Whistler.

Scripts must be dramatic feature length (80-plus minutes) and in a second draft or completed stage intended for commercial theatrical release or broadcast.

Six projects will be selected for the August workshop lead by filmmaker Lynne Stopkewich and screenwriter Frank Borg.

Stopkewich is best known for her independent features Kissed, Suspicious River and Lilith On Top. She has also directed television episodes of Bliss, Da Vinci’s Inquest, The L Word and Terminal City. She currently is co-writing the television feature Risking It All as well as developing a period feature based on Henry James’ novel The Other House.

Borg writes for stage, film and television. Stage credits include Next Door, The Stranger and The Chalk Player — winner of the Theatre B.C. National Playwriting Competition. He also writes for television series such as The Eleventh Hour and Da Vinci’s Inquest.

He has received numerous writing awards, including two Leo Awards, three Writers Guild Awards and one Gemini Award. His feature film My Father’s Angel won a Leo Award and Genie nomination for Best Screenplay.

Entry deadline is July 14. The workshop is $750 and includes accommodation.
