Clothing swap, party to raise money for safe house

Funds raised go to Pearl's House

Every Wednesday in July the Farfalla Hair and Esthetics salon will host a clothing swap from 6 to 8 p.m. Bring any clothes you no longer want, wear or need, to swap with other participants or to donate to a good cause.

All of the unclaimed clothes will go towards Pearl’s Place Transition House and Howe Sound Women’s Centre, which provides temporary shelter and support for women and their children who are escaping abusive relationships.

Some of the clothes not used by the shelter will be sold through Pearl’s 2 nd ’s, a thrift store that raises money for the facility.

Kostaman and Steve Jiu will provide live entertainment during the clothing swap.

In addition The Mix by Ric’s will donate $1 from every food order all day every Wednesday, as well as providing a venue for the post-swap party with drink specials.

The goal is to raise $500 per night for the women’s shelter.

"If we could raise this goal for at least 30 weeks we would have helped out 30 women to get a better life," said Jiu.
