Busy weekend for RCMP

Wine stolen, diamonds found

The Sea to Sky Regional Police Services, which serves Whistler and Pemberton, reported a busy Aug. 11 weekend with 102 calls for service. The calls included 13 disturbance and noise complaints, five driving complaints, seven alcohol-related motor vehicle stops, and three bear calls.

According to Constable Anne-Marie Gallop, the community policing officer, the number of bear calls is down substantially as a result of the appointment of a conservation officer this past summer.

There were also three assault complaints. One stemmed from a roommate dispute, another was lodged after a woman had food thrown in her face in the village by an assailant unknown to her, and the last involved an assault on an intoxicated male by another intoxicated male.

RCMP investigating wine theft

The Sea to Sky Regional Police Services are investigating the theft of several bottles of wine from the Wildflower restaurant in the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.

According to the report the theft occurred sometime between closing on Aug. 5 and opening on Aug. 6, and the value of the wine is estimated to be in the range of $1,500.

There’s no word on what specific bottles or quantity was stolen.

This is not the first time that wine has been the target of thieves. In 2005 over $200,000 in rare and premium wines was taken from the Bear Foot Bistro’s world famous collection.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
