A different kind of worshipping is happening every Sunday night.
Sunday Punk Nights are back up and running for the 2006-07 winter season with Slush, Callahan and Rise in the Fall playing for Whistler’s ultimate anti-club night Sunday, Nov. 12 at Garfinkel’s.
“I took a bunch of time off after the Boot (Pub) was shut down,” said organizer Lindsay Shedden. “I missed it so much. I missed Whistler so much. Every Sunday I was getting text messages and phone calls telling me I needed to get it up and running again.”
Punk Night is homeless no more, finding a permanent Sunday night residency at Garfinkel’s. Cheap live bands. Cheap drinks. Shedden said Garfinkel’s is a good fit, not the same as The Boot, but with punk fans coming together to appreciate great live music they can keep the vibe of the legendary night alive.
This Sunday features Whistler’s longest running and hands-down favourite band Slush. In 10 years, the band has put out seven albums — something no other Whistler band has done.
Slush will be joined by Vancouver’s Rise in the Fall and Callahan, whose music is comparable to Alexisonfire.
