Four people were arrested in Squamish Wednesday in connection with a series of break, enter and thefts that have occurred in Whistler in the past month.
The arrests follow an investigation by members of the Whistler and Squamish RCMP Detachments general investigation section that led to two search warrants being executed in Squamish on Wednesday, Dec. 6. RCMP say several thousand dollars worth of fur coats and other stolen property were recovered, along with a quantity of cocaine.
Joshua Lundstrum, 27, of Squamish has been charged with two counts of break, enter and theft to a business, possession of stolen property in excess of $5,000, possession of an automobile master tool and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
A 42-year-old woman, Dana Beston, also of Squamish, has been charged with possession of stolen property in excess of $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
The other two adults remain in custody.
Between Nov. 8 and Dec. 5 three retail businesses in Whistler were broken into, including the Alaska Fur Gallery on Main Street on Dec. 5 and Snowflake in the Fairmont Chateau Whistler on Nov. 8. Thieves made off with more than $116,000 worth of snowboards, jackets and furs in the three robberies. There was also several thousand dollars worth of damage done to the businesses.
RCMP say their investigation is continuing pending further recovery of stolen items.
