Spiritual Christmas celebrations

What Christmas is all about

The 24 th annual Christmas Eve Service of Lessons and Carols Sunday, Dec. 24 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Telus Conference Centre is the perfect way to get to the heart of the holiday season.

The Whistler Children’s Chorus hosts a magical evening of music, storytelling and community.

In past years, both children and adult choirs performed sets in between short readings by speakers from the Whistler community. Guest musicians also get into the spirit with the harp and violin joining boisterous voices.

Audience members participate in carol sing-a-longs along the way and before you know it, the hour wraps up in time to put the presents under the tree.

Admission is free.

After the Christmas Eve Service, Allison Crowe performs songs from her holiday album Tidings on grand piano at 8 p.m. at the conference centre.

A few songs to look forward to include a jazzy rendition of In the Bleak Mid Winter and a gospel-driven O Holy Night, rounding off a night with songs of joy, peace and redemption. Her renditions of songs by The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Sarah McLachlan also join the Tidings lineup.

Crowe also performs a free concert on Christmas Day at 4 p.m. at the conference centre.

Whistler also hosts Christmas Eve religious services:
