Adams up for Women In Business Awards

Local businesswoman one of five nominated for influential award

Whistler’s Sue Adams is one of five women nominated for Business In Vancouver’s Influential Women in Business Awards for 2007, which will be presented on March 7 in Vancouver.

In addition to operating the Grocery Store and Market Catering in Whistler and the Pemberton Valley Supermarket with her husband Bob, Adams is chair of the board of the Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival, and has been with the board for the past four years.

Further, Adams is vice chair and a member of the executive committee of the North Shore Credit Union, and a governor and member of the executive committee of the Playhouse Theatre Company.

She founded a branch of the Western Businesswomen’s Association in the late 1980s, which has become the Women of Whistler business network, and served on the executive of the WBA.

Trained as an occupational therapist, Adams and her husband founded three successful restaurants and a catering company in Vancouver between 1970 and their move to Whistler in 1988. As well, Adams is and has been involved in a range of community volunteer activities.
