Whistler runners tackle half marathon

A handful of Whistler runners were among the more than 400 athletes that took on a chilly 30 th annual April Fool’s Run Half Marathon, 21.1 km from Gibsons to Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast.

The top Whistler athlete was John Blok, who placed 33 rd overall, and second out of 22 athletes in the men’s 50 to 54 age category, in a time of one hour, 32 minutes and 16 seconds.

Nils Robinson was 47 th overall and sixth in the men’s 30 to 34 category in 1:35:11.

Heather Abernethy was 83 rd overall and fourth in the women’s 30 to 34 race in 1:41:58.

Robert Tan was 124 th and 22 nd in the men’s 45 to 49 race in 1:47:47.

Liane Dunsmuir was 165 th , 10 th in the women’s 30 to 34 category, in 1:51:17.

Grace Blok was 206 th overall and second in the women’s 50 to 54 age category in 1:55:03.

Kathy Ilott placed 20 th in the women’s 25 to 29 group in 2:00:21.

Christa Vandeberg was 24 th on the women’s 30 to 34 race in 2:08:11.

From Squamish, Sean McCreanor was 26 th overall and fifth in the men’s 35 to 39 in 1:30:39.

Rory Tucker was 13 th in the same category in 1:49:53.

Kelly Heilig was 10 th in women’s 40 to 44 in 1:51:49.

Coco Jonzon was third in women’s 50 to 54 in 1:55:11.

Julie Morris was 16 th in women’s 30 to 34 in 1:59:19.

Marcia Collier was 15 th in women’s 40 to 44 in 2:01:00.

Charlene Pawluk was 14 th in women’s 35 to 39 in 2:01:30.

Gayle Lewis was eighth in women 50 to 54 in 2:06:47.

Rhonda Wilson was 24 th in women’s 40 to 44 in 2:23:40.
