This week the Games’ Organizing Committee announced a six-year partnership with the Crown corporation Insurance Corporation of British Columbia as an Official Supporter for the 2010 Games.

In addition to the license plates, ICBC will also be the official supplier of motor vehicle insurance for the committee’s fleet of 4,500 vehicles.

“With the addition of ICBC to our family, we’re driving the Games onto every highway and into every driveway with a top B.C. company synonymous with safety and community building,” said John Furlong, chief executive officer with the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

The licence plates will cost $35 and will be available the week of Monday April 16 through Autoplan insurance brokers across the province. There will be an annual renewal fee of $25.

The plates will features the Games’ emblem, the province’s slogan “The Best Place on Earth” and a scene with Mount Garibaldi.

The 2010 Winter Games joins five recent Games that have introduced licence plate programs including Montreal 1976 and Calgary 1988.
