Strong showing for Whistler triathletes

Whistler triathletes headed to Kelowna this past Sunday to compete in the 25 th annual Kelowna Apple Triathlon, which featured a Sprint distance category, an Olympic distance category, a beginner adult race, and a Kids of Steel Race.

Whistler triathletes headed to Kelowna this past Sunday to compete in the 25 th annual Kelowna Apple Triathlon, which featured a Sprint distance category, an Olympic distance category, a beginner adult race, and a Kids of Steel Race.

The Olympic distance race included a 1,500 metre swim, a 40 km bike and a 10 km run.

On the men’s side, David Higgins was the fastest Whistler athlete, finishing 17 th overall as well as second in the men’s 35 to 39 age group, with a time of 2:09:11.

David Taylor placed ninth in the men’s 50 to 54 category in 2:29:51.

On the women’s side, Marie-Anne Prevost placed 11 th overall and first in the women’s 35 to 39 category with a time of 2:20:44.

Christine Suter was 26 th overall and fifth in women’s 35 to 39 in 2:27:56.

Liz Cullen was 41 st overall and 10 th in women’s 25 to 29 in 2:32:25.

Alisa Brownlee was sixth in women’s 40 to 44 in 2:33:40.
