Golf tournament raises $50,000

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation’s Telus Mountain Valley Golf Classic last Friday raised over $50,000, with all proceeds going towards the Squamish Health Care Foundation to purchase surgical equipment for theSquamish Hospital.

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation’s Telus Mountain Valley Golf Classic last Friday raised over $50,000, with all proceeds going towards the Squamish Health Care Foundation to purchase surgical equipment for theSquamish Hospital.

The Squamish Health Care Foundation agreed to match funds with what was raised in the tournament, resulting in a donation of $100,000 to the hospital.

The tournament was held at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club, and included a gala dinner and auction.

The Mark Anthony team posted the lowest net score, followed by Telus Business Solutions 1 and North Construction. The Most Honest Team (highest net score) was Lodging Ovations.

Kimberly Hughes won the award for women’s longest drive, Mari Miyaoka won closest to the pin and Bruce Van Mook won both contests on the men’s side. Hal Hughson also won the Closest to the Rockstar contest, while Clark McKenzie won $500 in the on-course poker competition. Doug Conn won the Appleton Putting Contest, while the most Original Pose went to Intrawest Placemaking.

The next Whistler Blackcomb Foundation fundraiser is the annual Telus Winter Classic in January.
