Pemberton welcomes coffee bean Nazis, caffeine junkies and latte fiends to a new java joint in town.
Discover the difference between canned roasts and direct-trade coffee beans from the 49 th Parallel at the grand opening of the Mount Currie Coffee Co. on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 5 to 9 p.m. in Pemberton.
“Creating a perfect latte combines art and science,” said owner Chris Ankeny. “There's a formula to pulling a great tasting espresso as well as an optimum temperature for the milk in a latte to be heated to, where it’s textured naturally sweet. If heated too much, it becomes burnt and bitter.”
Ankeny is ready to put discerning palates to the test at the café’s grand opening touting 49 th Parallel beans, most famous for $15 cups of coffee brewed from the best beans purchased at world coffee auctions.
In addition to checking out fresh coffee beans arriving weekly, java hounds can also add soup and breakfast wraps with local organic potatoes to their morning ritual. Homemade baked goods made daily will also fuel the community of Pemberton.
Saturday’s grand opening will feature local artists, live music, finger food, spirits and of course coffee.
The Mount Currie Coffee Company is located next to the Whistler Real Estate office in Pemberton, just off Highway 99.
