Nordic twoonie tonight

The second Whistler Nordics Twoonie Race of the season will take place tonight, Thursday, Jan. 3, sponsored by Craig Mackenzie and The Nordic Shop.

Sign-on is at the Lost Lake ticket booth at 5:30 p.m., with the race taking place at 6:15 p.m. There will be two starts, one for elite skiers and one for recreational skiers.

The course is about 4.2 km, out to Helen’s Corner and back to the Lost Lake Warming Hut. Bring your headlamp, because a section of the course is not under the lights.

To participate you need to be a member of the Whistler Nordics and chip $2 into the pot. Food and refreshments will be provided, and children are welcome to come and ski a shorter course.

The Whistler Nordics are also hosting a biathlon giveaway on Sunday, Jan. 13 for the first 15 men and 15 women that answer a question at the Nordic Twoonies blog site, http://nordictwoonies.blogspot.com. Participants will have a chance to race the Olympic and Paralympic biathlon course, and to use the firing range.
