Basketball fans can get their
fill this Saturday at an all-day tournament of senior boy’s teams hosted by the
Whistler Secondary School.
This is the first Club
Intrawest Whistler Winter Jam Basketball Invitational.
“This is the only chance that
people have in Whistler to see live basketball,” said Whistler Storm coach Cory
Heitz.
He encourages people to come
out and cheer on the home team.
The day begins at 10 a.m.
with the Whistler Storm taking on Pacific Academy.
The second Whistler game will
take place at 1 p.m. against Carver Christian.
The Storm’s final showdown
takes place at 5:30 p.m. against St. John’s.
There will be three more
games in between as the other teams take on each other.
“We’re trying to establish
ourselves in the province as being one of the future top team’s,” said Heitz.
“The way to do that is through tournaments.”
Admission is free and the
Basketball Parent’s Committee will be running a concession stand all day
featuring sushi, sandwiches, sweets and other goodies. The proceeds will go
directly to the team.
The tournament takes place at
the Whistler Secondary School gymnasium on Saturday Feb. 9.
