Whistler’s Britt Janyk won the Senior Female Athlete of the Year award presented by Sport B.C. and sponsored by CTV on Wednesday night, edging out a list of nominees that included freestyle skier Kristi Richards.
Janyk has two World Cup medals this season, including a gold, and currently ranks third in downhill and 12 th in super G on the World Cup circuit.
The Senior Male Athlete of the Year award went to swimmer Brent Hayden, gold medalist at the world aquatic championships in the 100 metre freestyle event.
