Some brazen thieves have taken off with $75,000 worth of flat screen TVs from a Whistler business storage area.
In all about 107 televisions were stolen — still all boxed and new.
“It was a huge truck that brought them in,” said Jeffrey Almond who works at nearby Whistler Cooks Fine Foods.
“When they were unloading them we saw all the television boxes, and then just a few days later they were gone. It’s really too bad.”
Almond said the warehouse area is rented to Whiski Jack Resorts, an accommodation provider which features 17 unique resorts, from four bedroom luxury condominiums to studios.
The company’s website states it: “…Provide(s) some of the most luxurious condominiums in Whistler offering (visitors) the privacy of wooded retreats, spectacular golf courses, mountain views, outdoor pools, as well as in-village locales close to the action.”
No one at Whiski Jack Resorts would comment on the theft.
RCMP Cst. Afzeel Yakub said police are asking for anyone with information to come forward or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
“I don’t want to get into the investigation,” said Yakub.
“We are not going to speculate at this point, for now we are just letting people know to see what sort of general information people might know.”
The theft took place sometime between 8 p.m. Saturday, March 15 and 10 a.m. Sunday, March 16.
The RCMP is also looking for information about a bar fight at Maxx Fish nightclub Saturday night.
Initially, said Yakub, police were told that someone had been stabbed inside the bar.
It turned out, however, that the cuts came form a broken glass bottle during a consensual fight between several people at the bar.
There was no apparent motive and alcohol was a factor.
Bar staff were quick to break up the fight and at this time there are no suspects in relation to the injuries caused to the victim who was taken to Whistler Medical Centre and later released.

Yakub said police are asking people to consume alcohol responsibly.
“We are also asking liquor serving establishments to help combat irresponsible use of alcohol by watching for any persons who may have had too much to drink on a given occasion,” he said in a statement.
