The Canada Cup mountain bike series continued at Mont Tremblant last weekend, with cross-country and downhill events.

Whistler’s Tyler Allison, 16, placed second in the Junior Expert category once again, racing against athletes three or more years older. He finished one minute, 18 seconds behind local rider Jonathan Boucher while representing Team B.C. Evan Guthrie, who won the first Canada Cup race at Bromont, Quebec, was third.

Allison would usually also compete in the downhill event, but injured a hand this year and still doesn’t have any feeling in a few of his fingers. He plans to race downhill again when the injury heels and the sensation returns.

At the start of the season Allison also set his sights on making the national team for the UCI World Championships, but will sit on the sidelines this year after the UCI decided to only take riders aged 17 and older.

Placing second in two events puts Allison second overall in the Canada Cup standings with three events remaining — Hardwood Hills, Ontario, Kamloops, B.C. and Canmore, Alberta.

Also from Sea to Sky, Squamish’s Philip Cairns was 12 th .

Raphael Gagne won the men’s Elite category, followed by Andrew Watson and Matthew Hadley. Squamish’s Neal Kindree did not finish the race.

In the Elite women’s race, Emily Batty was first, followed by Amanda Sin and Mical Dyck.

In the downhill race, Squamish’s Miranda Miller finished first for the juniors and second overall behind Danice Uyesugi, Kim Huard was third.

Whistler’s Alex Prochazka finished second among the junior men and 12 th overall out of 90 racers. His time was just over four seconds back of the top-three Elite men on a long and challenging course.

The next event on the schedule is the cross-country race at Hardwood Hills, Sunday, June 1.
