RCMP seek golf cart thieves

Suspects drove two golf carts along Valley Trail

The Whistler RCMP seek the public’s help in finding four suspects, three male and one female, whom they believe are involved in the thefts of two golf carts from the Nicklaus North Golf Course.

The first incident took place on July 7. A RCMP news release said a golf cart had been stolen from the golf course. The cart was driven away by a teenaged male but officers could not find him. The cart was later discovered abandoned near Whistler Secondary School.

The second incident occurred the same day at around 12:30 a.m. Two males and one female stole a second cart from the Nicklaus North maintenance yard. RCMP believe the suspects may have used a key stolen from the first golf cart taken that day.

The golf carts were driven along the Valley Trail in both incidents.

Whistler RCMP are also seeking unknown suspects in connection with mischief that took place at Alpha Lake Park on May 23, 2008.

The suspects are believed to have destroyed signs and cut down trees in the park. Residents near the park said they heard people making noise in the area at about 11 p.m., according to an RCMP news release.

The RCMP is looking to the public for any knowledge they may have about this offense and are asking them to call the Whistler RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Rowdy grad party at Rainbow Park causes alarm

The Whistler RCMP is asking the public to help identify a group of youths who partied at Rainbow Park during the early hours of Thursday, June 24.

During the unorganized grad party, the group tipped over and smashed a beverage-dispensing machine, broke into a nearby building, and stole several items. They also littered the park with garbage and liquor bottles.

According to a press release from Constable Brad Matchett, the partiers dispersed with “little resistance” when the RCMP arrived on scene.

Officers have dubbed the episode a “senseless Criminal act of vandalism and theft”, and are asking anyone with more information to call the RCMP phone line or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
