WCSS opens Re-Build-It online store

The Whistler Community Services Society has opened an on-line store, in partnership with the Canadian Home Builders Association Sea-to-Sky, that offers used building and renovation materials for sale.

Customers can donate their used building materials by sending a picture and description of the product to lorna@mywcss.org . The picture will then be posted on the website under the Recycle link, allowing customers to view the goods on-line and purchase them by calling the WCSS office at 604-932-0113. Customers then are directed to the actual location of the goods for pick-up.

At this time the WCSS Re-Use-It Centre is unable to accept donations of renovation goods. However it is working with the municipality to try and make that dream a reality.

“At this time, there is simply no room to accept these larger donations,” said Lorna Van Straaten, administrator. “We realize there is a huge demand from the public for this type of service, both to buy used goods at a great price, and to avoid having to take items that are still serviceable to the landfill. We hope to help with both those issues, and all the money raised stays in the community to help provide funding for the over 25 programs and services we offer!”

To view materials at the WCSS Re-Build-It Centre visit www.mywcss.org and look under “programs” for Re-Build-It Centre.

While a site for used building materials is planned, at this the WCSS does not have the space to accept building materials. Therefore, transactions are taking place through the website.
