Election signs require permits

Conservatives only ones to comply

John Weston is the only federal candidate that currently has a permit for his campaign signs in Whistler.

The Resort Municipality of Whistler has contacted the other three candidates and asked them to apply for sign permits. They should have them by the end of the week, reported the municipality’s communication department.

Typically, the RMOW’s process is to alert candidates of the sign permit process. Candidates are sent permit forms and asked to provide the RMOW with a $200 refundable deposit as well as a $30 sign fee.

Once the signs are down, candidates can apply to get their deposit back.   The RMOW will then do a patrol of the valley to make sure the signs have been removed.

Permits will be needed for signs in November’s civic elections.
