What: Tommy Africa’s New Years Party Beats  

Start off your New Year in style at Tommy Africa’s New Years edition of their classic Party Beats evening. DJ Rich-A plays popular music, ranging from top 40, hip hop, old school and R&B, that promises to pack the dance floor, while hors d’oeuvres and champagne circulate when the clock strikes 12. Tickets are $69, and are available at Tommy’s after 9:30 p.m. every day before the event, and at the door. You can also snag them online at clubzone.com or clubvibes.com. What: Uncorked!

Maxx Fish is the place to make memories this NYE. Ministry of Sound Canada touring DJ, Puf the Majik DJ, supplies the beats for this party, mixing every sort of party track imaginable: top 40, R&B, house, electro, and party rockers galore. And with Shits and Giggles transforming the bar for the evening, it’s sure to be a sight to behold, as well! Tickets are $75, which includes gourmet appetizers, party favours, and a champagne toast at midnight. What: Winter Wonderland 2009

Garf’s hosts one of the biggest parties in town to welcome in 2009 -- in fact, it’s been a sold-out event for 15 years running. DJ R3 and Andreas Morel   will man the decks, bringing a mix of top 40 dance, hip hop and retro, combined with high-energy dance and house later in the evening. Tickets are $90 before Christmas, $100 after, and $125 on NYE, with each ticket holder receiving a bottle of champagne, and, of course, appetizers at midnight. What: Classic New Years Eve 2009

The newly-renovated Savage Beagle is offering up a musical journey through time, starting with disco and ending with today’s top 40 and house, courtesy of DJ Rob Banks and Chris Brown. An all-female staff will serve up a special selection of seasonal holidays, and VIP and table reservations are also available. Tickets are $75 for early birds, $90 after Christmas, with each ticket holder receiving a bottle of champagne and appetizers at midnight. The biggest party of the year at Whistler’s good-time headquarters. Expect a classic NYE party, with long-time local and resident DJ Rosco on the decks, spinning an eclectic mix of hip hop, R&B, electro, top 40, club anthems and old school classics. Since it’s NYE, you can also expect hors d’oeuvres, party favours and a champagne toast when the ball drops at midnight! Ring in the New Year at this coveted local hotspot -- cozy up around the fireplace, as DJ Ali B (UK), Vinyl Ritchie and Foxy Moron take their turns at the decks, getting the dance floor packed and moving. Tickets are $75 at the GLC -- get ‘em quick, because they sell-out fast!

What: New Year With a Bang!

Looking for a bit more sophisticated way to spend the last evening of 2008, but still want to have loads of fun? The FireRock has just the ticket -- Chef Jeffrey Young whips up an equisite a la carte menu, while the Goby Catt & Catt Pack entertain the crowd. Group tables can be reserve with a pre-purchase of Cristal or Dom Perignon, or individual tickets can be purchased at $30 per person in advance, or $35 at the door. Come join the party in Creekside!   Prepare to have your eardrums enthralled by this group’s mix of original music and reworked covers, as they provide the evening’s entertainment. The infamous local duo of Guitar Doug and Grateful Greg bring the house down with their endless list of cover classics during a very special New Years Eve performance. Prepare to rock out for the rest of 2008! Party starts at 10 p.m.

Toast the New Year at Bill’s, with DJ Peacefrog getting the party truly rocking. Celebrate the New Year in style, with a “mountain casual extravaganza” of festivities, including a live New Years Eve countdown, DJ performance, champagne toast at midnight, hors d’oeuvres, complimentary coat check, and dessert bar. Doors at 8 p.m., open ‘til 3 a.m. Tickets are $75 and are available at www.longhornsaloon.ca. After-party tickets are just $25.

Get ready for a rocking good time at this Irish pub! This favourite local hotspot is ringing in the New Year with the help of the five-piece rock and roll cover band, Air Borne. Tickets are $50, which includes a champagne toast at midnight and party favours. You can snag your tickets at the bar.

This long-time favourite local watering hole is taking a more laidback approach to the holiday -- G Willy, an acoustic musician, will be providing the entertainment for the evening, with party favours and a champagne toast at midnight included in the $10 entry fee (charged after 8 p.m.). No pre-sold tickets, just show up!
