Clear conditions and snowmaking on Whistler Mountain allowed organizers to stage the third Kokanee Valley Race Series giant slalom race on Jan. 22 on Powerline, the Olympic slalom and giant slalom run off the Dave Murray Downhill.

It was a challenging set of 32 gates on a World Cup distance course, and it took the average skier over a minute to complete a single run.

The turnout was strong once again with 88 racers taking part. It was also the last event in the series before the annual Peak to Valley Race on Feb. 6-7. The Kokanee series resumes Feb. 19 with a slalom race.
