Whistler's Victoria Whitney earned her second NorAm medal of the season at Nakiska, Alberta this past weekend, this time finishing third in the giant slalom.

A member of the B.C. Ski Team, she was the top Canadian behind a pair of American skiers and finished ahead of two members of the national team and three members of the national development team.

The race set the tone for the rest of the week, with Whitney placing fifth in the second GS event, as well as 12th in the first slalom. She was among a dozen racers who did not finish their first run in the second slalom event.

Whitney returned to the B.C. Ski Team after missing most of last season with a knee injury. She placed first in a NorAm super G race in December, then went to Europe to race in Europa Cup events with mixed results.

Several members of the Whistler Mountain Ski Club's FIS team also took part. Alecia Willis was 32nd in the first slalom, followed by Elyse Timoshenko in 39th. In the second GS, Calindy Ramsden was 25th, Alecia Willis 33rd, and Jocelyn Ramsden 41st. In the first slalom, Calindy Ramsden was 26th, and Alecia Willis 28th. Calindy Ramsden moved up to 18th in the second slalom, while Elyse Timoshenko was 20th.

The men also raced, with two slaloms earlier in the week and two giant slaloms at the end of the week.

In the first slalom, Whistler's Conrad Pridy was 22nd racing for the B.C. Ski Team, while the WMSC's Ian Morrison was 27th and Alexander Binks 29th.

Conrad Pridy moved up to 16th in the second slalom, while WMSC skiers Stanislas Rey, Ian Morrison and Alexander Binks were 21st, 26th and 31st respectively.

The GS events were after press time for this week.
