Locals on top of April Fool’s Run

Every spring the April Fool's Half Marathon kicks off the road running season, challenging athletes to run 21.1 km from Gibsons to Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast. This year's race took place on Sunday, April 5.

Every spring the April Fool's Half Marathon kicks off the road running season, challenging athletes to run 21.1 km from Gibsons to Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast. This year's race took place on Sunday, April 5.

Whistler's John Blok had a good day, placing 21 st overall and second in the men's 50 to 54 age group with a time of 1:30:13, averaging a kilometre every four minutes and 17 seconds. He also placed seventh out of 170 men in the race.

Heather Abernathy placed fifth out of 21 runners in the 35 to 39 age group, and 39 th out of 213 women with her time of 1:49:08.

Megan Wastle was close behind, placing seventh out of 31 racers in the women's 30 to 34 age category in 1:50:04.

Grace Blok was ninth out of 29 racers in the women's 50 to 54 group in 2:07:29.

Lina Kang was 25 th in women's 40 to 44 in 2:20:54.

From Pemberton, Sarah O'Brien was 10 th in women's 35 to 39 in 2:06:04.

The April Fool's Half Marathon wasn't the only event this past weekend. My First Trail Race took place in North Vancouver on Sunday at the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve.

Whistler's Barry McClure was sixth overall and first in the men's 50 to 59 age category in the 10 km race with a time of 52:27.
