The Resort Municipality of Whistler is now accepting applications for the second round of the WE (Whistler Elite) Pass program, providing free access to the Meadow Park Sports Centre for up and coming athletes.

The second submission deadline is Dec. 12, 2009 for a pass that will be good from Jan. 1 to June 30.

The program is open to athletes that live in Whistler and train with groups affiliated with Sport B.C. and/or Sport Canada. It is intended for emerging local athletes who are looking to compete at the provincial level and higher in the future, and that are recommended by their sports organizations. Each organization is entitled to passes based on the number of registered athletes, with roughly one pass available for every 50 registered athletes, up to a maximum of seven passes.

Kids 13 to 15 must take a Youth on Weights Orientation Course, otherwise the program is for kids 16 and up. All submissions are evaluated by the Whistler Elite Project Team.

There is also an opportunity to get a WE Pass for Whistler's Nordic skiing trails for athletes in cross-country, at the discretion of the project team.

Sports groups that submitted applications over the last round are required to resubmit for the next pass period.

Application forms are available by e-mailing smozes@whistler.ca.
