While Canada's World Cup athletes were celebrating a strong showing at home in Lake Louise the Nor-Am Cup series continued in Colorado last week.
Men and women switched places at Loveland and Aspen, Colorado for giant slalom and slalom races, then headed to Lake Louise this week for the speed events.
In Aspen, the men raced in two giant slalom events. In the first race Jean-Philippe Roy from the national team placed second, between Marcel Hirscher of Austria and Tommy Ford of the U.S. Other Canadians in the top 15 were Brad Spence in ninth place and Jeffrey Frisch 11 th . Whistler's Mike Janyk was 24 th .
From the B.C. Ski Team, brothers Morgan and Conrad Pridy were 37 th and 39 th out of close to 100 athletes that started that morning.
Canadians had a tough second race, with Cyprien Richard and Steve Missillier of France placing first and third and Marcel Hirscher picking up the bronze medal. The top Canadian was Tyler Nella in 12 th place, followed by Jeffrey Frisch in 13 th and David Donaldson in 14 th . Mike Janyk was 24 th once again while Morgan Pridy moved up to 33 rd . Sasha Zaitsoff, also on the B.C. Ski Team, was 35 th .
In the ladies slalom at Loveland Canada's Anna Goodman and Marie-Michele Gagnon placed first and third on day one. France's Anne-Sopie Barthet was sandwiched in between in second place. Other Canadians in the running included Brigitte Acton in 10 th place, Brittany Phelan 11 th , Erin Mielzynski 15 th , Eve Routhier 20 th , Marie-Pier Prefontaine 27 th and Elli Terwiel 29 th .
Anna Goodman upset American Sarah Schleper on day two, with Eva-Maria Brem of Austria third. Eve Routhier was seventh, Brigitte Acton dropped to 13 th , Erin Mielzynsi was 15 th , Kate Ryley 16 th , Megan Ryley 22 nd , Elli Terwield 25 th and Marie-Pier Prefontaine 26 th .
The events at Lake Louise got underway on Monday with downhill training. The first medals were presented on Wednesday afternoon. In total there are six events: two men's and two women's downhill races and a one super G for each sex.
