Baxter Creek, one of Whistler's swankiest new neighbourhoods, already has buyers lining up for the choice real estate.
Realtor Carolyn Hill said reservations for building lots are already in the double digits.
"We've got a fair amount of reservations already," said Hill, realtor with the Whistler Real Estate Company.
"It's really good to see."
The buyers include Whistler residents and people from the Lower Mainland.
While a price list has yet to be set as appraisals are still underway, Hill said the lots will likely start in the low $700,000's. Owners will buy a lot and then choose a builder.
"You can pick whomever you want to do your building," she said.
The development, which lies above the Rainbow lands with breathtaking views stretching around the valley, includes 48 single-family homes and 41 townhouses.
The first phase consists of 21 single-family lots and will go to contract in spring 2010. That will be followed by phase two, the townhouses, with the remaining lots as the final phase. Overall, it's about a five-year project and will include a communal saltwater pool for owners and a fire pit/BBQ area.
The 22-acre land was a small but key part of the 300 acres of First Nations legacy lands, negotiated by Squamish and Lil'wat First Nations in return for their support of the 2010 Winter Games.
It was one of the only pieces of land that had zoning connected with it.
This summer First Nations struck a partnership with Whistler-based Bethel Lands to develop the property.
That deal wiped out their $14 million debt on the First Nations cultural centre as well as providing ongoing funding as the Baxter Creek land is developed.
Hill said she, along with fellow realtor Steve Taylor, are available to take people out who want to tour the site, which as yet is not cleared for development. Both are working with realtor John Ryan.
The site is accessed through the Rainbow subdivision, which is also in the process of selling about 30 market lots.
The Baxter Creek tours take place via snowshoes.
