The organizers went with a slightly different setup for the second and final King of the Rails rail jam on Saturday night, building up a wide starting ramp and letting skiers and riders have their pick of two different rails, a long flat box and mini box for a few snowboarders under the age of 6.
The King of the Rail series was capped at two events this season because of the Olympics and Paralympics, and the rush to schedule events in the months before and after the Games.
The skiers and snowboarders themselves made the most of the last event and put on a good show for all the 100-plus spectators that turned out to watch.
As always the event was athlete-judged, with prize money in each category based on the number of entries. All participants were eligible to win draw prizes, including a Nintendo Wii that went to Naoki Utsumi.
Louis Thibault won $100 for getting the most votes in the Snowboard Male 16 and Over category, as well as the overall King of the Rail title.
Cody Wilson won Snowboard Male 15 and Under and went home with $30.
Dakota Schlag won $20 for the Ski Male 16 and Over and category, Jakes Rouches won $30 in Ski Male 15 and Under, and Mimiko Fukuda and Zoi Sadowski-Synnott each won $15 for Ski Female 16 and Over and Snowboard Female 16 and Over respectively.
