Student videos to air on Whistler Live!

Local schools have come together to create a video montage about what it is like to be a Whistler kid during the Winter Games, the Resort Municipality of Whistler announced on Tuesday.

Local schools have come together to create a video montage about what it is like to be a Whistler kid during the Winter Games, the Resort Municipality of Whistler announced on Tuesday.

The resulting video footage will be aired on Whistler Live! screens along the Village Stroll during the Olympics and Paralympics to share their experiences with visitors from around the world, said Sharon Fugman, manager of the 2010 Winter Games office.

Five student-designed logos will also be displayed on the screens throughout the Games, she said.

The logos were chosen during a Whistler-wide design competition. The winners were Lauren Aspen from Whistler Secondary School, as well as Adam Bell, Jonah Regan, Jenna Tobias and Meghan Marof from Myrtle Philip Community School.

All students who participated in the contest were also entered into a draw for four tickets to a victory ceremony, said Fugman. The winner was Riley Maton.

The video and logo program was put on by the Kids of Whistler 2010 Committee, including representatives from each of the schools in Whistler, and the Resort Municipality of Whistler.
